A. Roman Alonso (Alicia)
Mrs Alicia Román Alonso has been with the Amsterdam School of International Business since 2009. She has been a lecturer of both IT and Management subjects. Currently, she is a lecturer in Information Technology and Customer Relationship Management Systems. She is also an Internship Supervisor, a coach for the Personal Development module, a thesis assessor, a member of the TMA/IM Test Assessment Committee, and a Study Advisor for the International Management study programme.
Before joining AMSIB, Mrs Román Alonso worked as the information technology director of a private university in Mexico, the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Tamaulipas. Her main responsibility was the detection of technological opportunities that were applicable for the university, with the purpose of improving the overall business processes, achieving institutional goals, and providing excellent service to the student and staff population.
Some of the projects and accomplishments in this area included:
- Implementation of a new telephone communications system that improved service and reduced costs by 40% at the University
- Implementation of an information system (web platform in 2004)
- Audit several Universities in Mexico that applied for the accreditation of the Federation of Private Mexican Institutions of Higher Education (FIMPES)
Mrs Román Alonso also participated as a member of the research committee in charge of creating the Master Plan for Research at the university (1997-1998). She was a member of the University Academic Senate, formed by lecturers with outstanding performance in academic activities; a thesis assessor for the computer science bachelor, and a lecturer of the subjects Management Information Systems, Database Systems Design, Information Systems Development and Operating Systems. In 2005 she was named Lecturer of the Year.
Mrs Román Alonso has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from La Salle University. She earned a Bachelor in Computer Science (graduated Cum Laude) and Finance diploma from the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Tamaulipas.
