Testimonial
In 2019, Bastiaan graduated from the Honors Aviation Management track. After that, Bastiaan has been working as a Data Steward at the Royal Schiphol Group. He will tell us something about his experiences after graduation and his outlook on the future.
The most significant advantage is the amount of operational aviation knowledge I (unconsciously) built up during my education.

How did you get your current job?
Applied via their website.
What are your daily operations?
Improving and safeguarding data quality at Schiphol; help develop their data governance program (policies, principles, standards, etc.).
What do you like the most at your job?
The balance between individual and teamwork. Moreover, the times you really have to dig deep in the systems and data-flows to find the root cause of problems; and the rush you get when you find and fix it. Furthermore, the appreciation you get from colleagues, people are genuinely happy when you fix something that directly affects them in their work.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In a management role, guiding a team of enthusiastic and creative people that are solving problems and innovating on a daily basis.
What did you like the most from your education that helped you out nowadays in your work?
The most significant advantage is the amount of operational aviation knowledge I (unconsciously) built up during my education. This was one of the main reasons I was hired at my previous and current job and still allows me to get up to speed fast with my colleagues.
Are you still connected with the Aviation Academy?
Yes; I still follow the Aviation Academy on social media and sometimes attend events.
