Dr Walther Ploos van Amstel - with a PhD from the Free University Amsterdam on the organisation of logistics control - has been Professor of City Logistics since September 2014. He is also a member of the steering committee of the Green Deal Logistics in Construction and the Green Deal Zero Emission City Logistics and ambassador of the PraktijkProef Amsterdam (traffic management).
Ploos van Amstel was Professor of Logistics at the Netherlands Defence Academy in Breda and Den Helder from 2002 to 2009 (2002-2009). Prior to that, he worked for more than 25 years as an organisational consultant, specialising in logistics, supply-chain management and international distribution. Key themes in his work were logistics process innovation, cooperation in logistics chains and networks, service logistics, sustainable logistics, supply chain management and zero-emission urban logistics.
