Dr Hafid Ballafkih is a professor of Labour and Human Capital in Transition.
He specialises in the labour market, labour market transitions, staff development, staff selection, data-driven decision-making and research methods. He is interested in current and future labour market developments and their impact on organisations, society and people.
His research interests include setting up a study on the effect of artificial intelligence on work and competences, future competences of professionals in the infrastructure sector, professional identity and professional profiles of various professions, occupational rehabilitation and the working poor. His research contributes mainly to knowledge about working in the future. He focuses on mismatches in the labour market, future competences, the role of competences in selection and development, the consequences of an ageing population, migrant workers, terms of employment and working conditions.
Hafid supervises and coordinates the implementation of complex long-term interdisciplinary research assignments. He carries out the assignments with his research group. The research group is part of The Work Lab and the Centre for Economic Transformation.
He contributes to the education and professionalisation of lecturers and the evaluation of the education provided.
Hafid is head of Research Data Management of the faculty and a member of the Research Ethics Committee of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS). In these roles he advises on the organisation and quality of research within the Faculty of Business and Economics.
