Troy Nachtigall is a highly experienced Designer and Design Researcher who leads research at the intersection of fashion and technology. Troy is a core member of the Erasmus+ Fashion and Textile Transitions project and the New Textile Ecosystems (New Texeco) Research Community. About Troy Nachtigall
Troy Nachtigall is a seasoned designer and design researcher working at the crossroads of fashion and technology. As Professor at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, he leads the research group Fashion & Technology, where he focuses on the computational fabrication of garments, footwear, and accessories. His work explores the relationship between data and materiality, contributing to hybrid digital-physical design and new lifecycle frameworks in the fashion ecosystem.
Troy is a key contributor to the Erasmus+ Fashion and Textile Transitions project and the New Textile Ecosystems research community. His foundation in ICT and design drives his interest in wearable data-driven design.
Before academia, Troy worked as a fashion designer in New York and Florence with brands such as Hugo Boss, Panerai, and Calvin Klein. He earned his PhD as a Marie Skołdowska-Curie fellow in the ArcInTexETN program (TU Eindhoven, Philips Research, UdK Berlin), and continued as a postdoctoral researcher in co-design and shape-changing spaces at Aarhus University and TU Eindhoven.
