Frederique Paulus is a professor by special appointment of Critical Care at AUAS. She is also a professor of Quality of Intensive Care at Amsterdam UMC. Her research focuses on effective interventions to optimise care, implement proven methods, and phase out less effective ones.

About Frederique Paulus
Frederique Paulus is a professor by special appointment of Critical Care at the AUAS. Her research group focuses on the nursing aspects of care and scientific research in intensive care units, particularly for patients requiring mechanical ventilation. As a researcher and project leader, she has established and successfully completed large multicenter studies.
In addition to her role at the AUAS, Frederique is a professor of Quality of Intensive Care and works as a nurse and senior researcher in the Adult Intensive Care Unit at Amsterdam UMC. She trained as a clinical epidemiologist at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her PhD in 2012 on the topic of Manual Hyperinflation, including both preclinical and clinical studies.
Frederique is also part of the interprofessional team of principal and senior researchers in the Intensive Care Unit at Amsterdam UMC, location AMC. On the international stage, she collaborates closely with nursing researchers from King's College London and Queen's University Belfast in the field of ventilation and respiratory care research. She is also a member of the PROVE Network(opens in new window), an international group of experts who jointly conduct multicenter research in the field of invasive ventilation.
