About Martijn Stuiver

Martijn Stuiver is a professor by special appointment of Functional Recovery in Cancer and its Treatment at the AUAS and programme director of the Master's programme Evidence Based Practice in Health Care at the University of Amsterdam (AmsterdamUMC). He has a phd in clinical epidemiology and a background in physical therapy. His research focuses on the recovery of patients with cancer.

Martijn's research ranges from developing functional tests (such as exercise tests and swallowing tests), to conducting studies that look at the recovery of functions and the need for further recovery. He also investigates the opinions of patients and healthcare professionals, and conducts randomized trials and systematic reviews.

In addition to research, Martijn is involved in translating research findings into everyday care for cancer patients. He developed several care programmes and helped create cancer rehabilitation guidelines. As founder of Onconet, he works to improve the accessibility and quality of physical therapy for people who have (had) cancer.
