Stan Majoor (1977) is a professor in Coordination of Urban Issues and director of the Center of Expertise Urban Governance and Social Innovation. He manages a research program on metropolitan issues in the Amsterdam region at the interface of social, spatial, economic and administrative questions. He is also interested in the tension between innovation and renewal on the one hand and assurance and consolidation in complex organizations on the other. Funding for this is obtained from partnerships with urban partners and through grants from SIA-RAAK and various EU programmes.

Within the Center of Expertise Urban Governance and Social Innovation, he and a team of researchers are responsible for the connecting knowledge agenda that focuses on collaborative governance and social innovation. Majoor is also a guest lecturer at the HvA Master Urban Management. And is a member of the Social Council of the Amsterdam housing corporation Stadgenoot, a board member of the national Lectorate Platform for City and Neighborhood and a board member of the Van Eesteren-Fluck en Van Lohuizen Foundation.

Between 2001 and 2015 he worked at the University of Amsterdam as a junior researcher, post-doc and assistant professor of urban planning. Between 2008 and 2012, he was program director of the Bachelor's program in Human Geography and Planning and a board member of the College of Social Sciences. Majoor has international research experience in the United States, Denmark, Spain, Hong Kong and Australia, supervises PhD students and has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and more than 60 professional publications.
