Urban Goodcamp

Erasmus Plus Researchproject

Project

In the European Erasmus+ research project Urban Goodcamp, the AUAS is investigating whether it can play an active role in addressing urban challenges related to biodiversity and climate adaptation. It aims to achieve this by connecting parties in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area that work on these themes and by developing education that aligns with the issues these parties encounter in practice.

In the first year of the Urban Goodcamp project, researchers delved into the urban challenges facing the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. After conducting literature research and interviews with experts, a focus was chosen on the themes of Biodiversity and Climate Adaptation.

In the next step, to be carried out in 2022, the researchers will collaborate with a large group of stakeholders, including Naturalis and Staatsbosbeheer, to develop education aimed at finding solutions for challenges such as heat stress, waterlogging, and declining green spaces.

From Problem to Solution

In consultation with experts, several key problems will be formulated for which HvA students or external students and participants will devise solutions under supervision. The solutions will be presented to the experts, so they can collaboratively reach a result that can be applied in practice.

Results

Within the project, a program has been developed in the form of a bootcamp for students to investigate whether urban challenges can be addressed more proactively using entrepreneurial skills. Students of the Climate-Resilient City minor participated in the intensive bootcamp, where they were trained in entrepreneurial skills.
