Eltje Bos was Professor of Cultural and Social Dynamics. With the Research Group she researched how social and cultural activities can improve the quality of life in the city at a time in which subsidies are dwindling and members of the public are developing their own initiatives. She therefore also devoted attention to reinforcing business skills of social and cultural professionals.

Eltje Bos obtained her doctorate in 2011 with her thesis Policy for Culture and Immigrants: Government Policy and Practical Implementation 1980-2004 at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences of the University of Amsterdam. Eltje delivered her inaugural address Twee oren en één mond ( ‘Two ears and one mouth’) on 13 July 2015.
