AUAS Library

Library themes

The Library is a valuable partner that supports researchers in conducting high-quality and transparent research. The Library also contributes to increasing the visibility of research. The Library is the expert in the field of: Open Access publishing; Pure and Research Data Management. Read below what the Library is doing in these areas.

Open Access

Making research results openly available, also known as open access, is important for the visibility, findability and (accelerated) reuse of the results of lecturers and teacher-researchers. It promotes the impact of practice-oriented research. That is why the AUAS strives for openly accessible research results as the standard.

The Library supports the open access objectives of the AUAS and:

  •  conclude open access discount arrangements with publishers;
  • facilitates open access publishing via Pure and the HvA Research Database;
  •  advises on open access routes and requirements of research funders;
  • answers questions about open access publishing via openaccess@hva.nl

Pure: register, report, publish

With Pure – the Research Information System of the AUAS – research results and activities are brought together and made transparent, visible and findable.

Lecturers, teacher-researchers and all other employees are expected to register the research results and activities that they realize for the AUAS in Pure. In Pure you can register publications, blog posts, exhibitions, software, datasets or objects. But also various activities, media appearances and prizes or fairs.

The institution – or part thereof – can then report on this for annual reporting, periodic research evaluations or, for example, open access progress.

In addition, the research results and activities are made visible via the HvA website, HvA Research Database and Publinova. And, research reports or open access versions of journal articles or book chapters can also be published via Pure. This makes practice-oriented research more and more visible and discoverable for the public, professionals and government institutions.

The Library manages and develops Pure on behalf of the AUAS. At the faculties, the Pure administrators support employees in entering their research results and activities.

Research Data Management

The Library's Research Data Management team works together with faculty data stewards to provide state-of-the-art support for researchers in setting up good data management. This involves advising researchers on how to handle their data during the entire research process: from planning, collecting and collaborating on research data to storing, archiving and publishing datasets. The support helps researchers to comply with (inter)national codes of conduct and requirements of subsidy providers with regard to handling data.
