Astrid van Willigen works as an information specialist for the Nursing and Mensendieck Physical Therapy programmes of the faculty of Health.

As an information specialist she

  • gives personal advice on finding and storing reliable information on a specific subject.
  • gives introductions, workshops and training courses in literature research.
  • puts together the library collection for a course, via a collection development profile.
  • reviews incoming acquisition suggestions in the areas of databases, books, periodicals and audiovisual resources.

Astrid has been associated with the HvA library since 1988 in varying positions. One of her tasks is to support students, lecturers and researchers in literature searches in databases such as PubMed and Cinahl. She gives advice on how to use the relevant sources, how to compose a good search string and how to properly cite sources. Researchers can also ask her for help with finding full-text articles.
