Care Repair selected! Working together towards a circular fashion industry
30 January 2025

We are proud to announce that Care Repair has been selected as one of five innovative project ideas within the "Design Power & Transitions" program by CLICKNL! The Care Repair project addresses an urgent challenge in the fashion industry: the rapid decline in clothing lifespan. In the past twenty years, global clothing production has doubled, while garments are being worn for increasingly shorter periods. By extending the life of clothing, we can significantly reduce its environmental impact.
Care Repair emerged from the NewTexEco research community and brings together expertise to take on this pressing issue. The consortium includes ArtEZ (Fashion professorship and Art and Design Education professorship), Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (Fashion Research & Technology and the Amsterdam School of International Business), Milieu Centraal, Fabriek Fris, Mended, Leemans & Wicker, and morgenmakers.
"We aim to bring together users, designers, fashion brands, and tailors to co-create innovative and systemic solutions that promote circular behavior. Being selected gives us the opportunity to further develop our idea and demonstrate how design and collaboration can play a crucial role in making the fashion industry more sustainable. We look forward to working with CLICKNL and the other selected teams in the coming months to move this project forward."
What’s next?
The selected project teams have until May 7 to develop their ideas into full project proposals. At the end of May, the program board will advise the CLICKNL board on the allocation of funding for the projects. We look forward to the next phase and the positive impact Care Repair will bring!
