EPIC-WE selected for the European Youth Event 2025!
10 March 2025

Fantastic news! The EPIC-WE project, with the participation of the Visual Methodologies Collective, has been selected for inclusion at the European Youth Event (EYE) 2025, which will take place on June 13 and 14 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. This event brings together thousands of young Europeans to engage in discussions with policymakers, experts, and activists about the future of Europe.
EPIC-WE: Games as a Tool for Cultural Participation
The EPIC-WE project aims to actively involve young people in shaping European culture through game-making as culture-making. By collaborating with creative industries partners, cultural heritage institutions, and higher education, young people are given the opportunity to creatively work with and reflect on European values and identity.
During EYE2025, EPIC-WE will host an interactive panel to share insights on how to establish Cultural Hubs and Cultural Game Jams. These initiatives bring together young people, cultural institutions, and creative industries to strengthen heritage and culture through games. The session will feature inspiring discussions and interactive activities, including live polls and the drawing up of collective statements and reflections on how to involve young people as partners in culture and research.
The Role of the Visual Methodologies Collective
Within project EPIC-WE, the Visual Methodologies Collective develops (visual) research practices to map the impact of cultural participation on the participating youth. By collaborating with young people and creative partners, the research group contributes to developing an innovative and inclusive approach to cultural participation.
Partners
EPIC-WE is a collaboration between Aarhus University (Denmark), the Institute of Sound and Vision (Netherlands), Lusófona University (Portugal), and other cultural and academic partners throughout Europe. Together, they are working on the development of Cultural Game Jams and new methods to help equip youth with the tools to actively engage in European culture. EPIC-WE is supported by Horizon Europe.
