Scholarships and grants

International students at AUAS can apply for a few different scholarships.

NL Scholarship

 

The €5000 NL Scholarship (formerly known as the Holland Scholarship) is open to international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their Bachelor’s or Master’s in the Netherlands. The EEA consists of the European Union (EU) plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

Application criteria

  • You are a prospective student
  • You are applying for a programme in the Netherlands for the first time
  • You will be paying the institutional tuition fee
  • Your nationality is non-EEA
  • You do not have a degree from an education institution in the Netherlands
  • You are applying for a full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS)*
  • You meet the specific admission requirements set by the AUAS programme you want to study
  • You have not received an NL Scholarship before

    * Global Sustainable Businesss Management Master students cannot apply for the NL Scholarship.

How to apply

The deadline for application for the academic year 2025/2026 is 1 May 2025. The application period starts in March 2025. The NL Scholarship will be paid at the beginning of the second semester.
You can apply for the NL Scholarship using this form(opens in new window). You need to login with your AUAS ID. The Central Student Administration sends you your AUAS ID by email after applying through Studielink. You need to activate your AUAS ID here

Amsterdam Talent Scholarship (ATS)

The Amsterdam Talent Scholarship is awarded at the end of every academic year to successful non-EEA students who have been enrolled in a programme at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences since 2023/2024 or earlier*. The Amsterdam Talent Scholarship will cover 50 percent of the institutional tuition fee.
If you enrolled in a programme and started your first year of study in 2024/2025 or later, you cannot receive the Amsterdam Talent Scholarship anymore.

Please note that the requirements for the ATS Scholarship will change for the academic year 2024/2025. The new requirements will be communicated by mid October.

Eligibility criteria

You must meet the eligibility criteria for the ATS. You should:

  • Be able to meet the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa (if applicable)
  • Be enrolled in a programme at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences since 2023/2024 or earlier
  • Have paid the institutional tuition fee for non-EEA students
  • Not receive a full coverage scholarship covering the same period of study
  • Have obtained all 60 credits* in the completed academic year, with a minimum average grade of 7.0

* Students at the European School of Physiotherapy (ESP) should have obtained all credits relevant to their academic year schedule.

How to apply

Applications for ATS are open to those who meet the eligibility criteria by filling in the ATS application form. After filling in all required data on the application form, the form should be submitted to the appropriate ATS contact person (contact details included on this page under ATS contact information), together with a copy of your residence permit (front and back) and a certified grade list for the present academic year. You can request an overview of your grade list at the education office.

Deadlines

After completion of a full year of studies on 31 August, you should submit your applications for ATS to the appropriate ATS contact person before 31 December of the same year. Each of the AUAS faculties has a contact person for ATS who can can give you more information on ATS and can process your application.
