In May 2022, Janette Bessembinder was appointed professor of Climate Literacy on behalf of AUAS and KNMI. She has been employed by KNMI since 2005, working to tailor climate-related data and information for users from a broad range of sectors, specifically in connection with the KNMI climate scenarios. The processing of climate-related data is important in that regard, as is communication on the topic of climate change.
The research group focuses on two areas of research:
- the tailoring and application of climate-related data and information, such as for the purpose of urban planning;
- effective communication on climate change from professionals to target groups such as policymakers and the broader public.
