Andre Neumann has been the head of the Digital Media and Creative Industry Knowledge Center (FDMCI) at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) since August 2024. In this new role, he oversees the activities within the knowledge center as a whole and focuses on achieving the established objectives. He also represents the knowledge center in the Faculty Management Consultation. His vision is to better connect education and research, and he sees it as his responsibility to optimally support both researchers and lecturers in this regard.

Neumann sees himself as a manager who wants to create the right conditions for success, emphasizing the importance of collaboration. He believes that collective efforts are stronger than individual ones and is committed to ensuring that the various units within the knowledge center thrive without losing their own identity.

Andre Neumann is a manager who believes in open communication and collaboration. He encourages colleagues to engage in conversations with him and aims to create a safe, supportive working environment where education and research go hand in hand. With his extensive experience and enthusiasm, he is determined to further develop the FDMCI knowledge center and improve the quality of practice-oriented research.

Neumann has an extensive academic and professional background. He earned his PhD from the Delft University of Technology in the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, where his dissertation, titled "Shared Mental Models in Design Teams," focused on the dynamics within design teams and the collaboration between team members. His research showed that shared mental models are essential for effective collaboration, especially in complex design processes. This theme sparked his interest in team dynamics and design methodologies, insights he applies in his current work.

Before his PhD, Neumann obtained a master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from Radboud University. His studies focused on the psychological aspects of AI, where he delved into the interaction between humans and technology. This background provides him with a unique perspective on developments within the field of digital media and creative industries, where technology plays an increasingly important role.

Since 2014, Neumann has been associated with HvA, where he has held various roles within the Communication and Multimedia Design (CMD) program. He started as a lecturer, guiding students in the field of digital media design and technology. He soon became a team leader and later program manager of CMD, a position he held for nearly four years.
