After a long career as a professional basketball player in the Netherlands and abroad, Peter van Paassen feels right at home as a lecturer at programmes Sportkunde - leerroute SM&O and Sport Studies - track ISMB. Besides teaching courses like Intercultural Communication and Sports & Society, Peter is a coach for first-year students, graduation supervisor and coordinator of the High Performance Sports minor.

Peter received his bachelors in Journalism/Mass Communication from Saint Bonaventure University (New York). He then played for professional basketball clubs in Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands. He played for the Dutch basketball team for a long time. In recent years, Peter obtained a master's degree in Special Education from Fontys University of Applied Sciences and a master's degree in International Sport Management from the Johan Cruijff Institute for Sports Studies. Currently Peter is following the Sports Leadership Programme of the AUAS . Guilty pleasures: country music and Dr. Pepper.
