H.J. Pennings (Henk)

Henk Pennings works as international project coordinator and (EU) funding consultant at the international office of the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Law (FASSL). He has a Bachelor’s in Cultural and Social Education at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), and a Master’s in Social Policy and Social Work in Urban Areas at the University of Amsterdam.

Henk joined AUAS after finishing his Bachelor’s in 2006 as a researcher in training. His involvement in several international projects, like for instance ‘Urban Culture and Youth’ and ‘Empowering the Future’, got him more and more involved in internationalisation. Since 2010 he has been working for the International Office of FASSL. Next to coordinating international projects and supporting international funding applications, he is involved in the AUAS summer school as coordinator of the FASSL courses.

During his Bachelor’s, Henk got bitten by the international bug by getting involved in the student exchange project ‘Youth and Passion’, an exchange program between Amsterdam, Leuven, Potsdam and Warsaw. Next to everything related to internationalization, Henk enjoys reading and playing the drums. He lives on a farm on the island of Texel with his wife and two kids.
