José Ruiz del Portal Tranche joined the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) in 2013 as a lecturer. He holds a master’s in economics and business from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, and a Doctor of Business Administration in “FinTech and the Make-or-Buy Decision: A Valuation Model for Retail Banks Facing Disruptive Innovation”. He completed his Professional Doctorate at the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, in 2023.
His research interests focus on FinTech, disruptive innovation, value-based performance, valuation techniques, and business model adaptation. At the Lectorate Corporate Governance & Leadership, Dr. Ruiz del Portal Tranche leads the project “FinTech and Socially Responsible Financing”, to investigate the role of financial technology in embedding the concept of social significance into the financing ecosystem.
As lecturer in finance and accounting, José teaches courses on Management Control at AMSIB (BA), and Digital FinTech Strategy & Innovation at AUAS (MA).
