Practical Skills for a Future-Proof Fashion Industry
8 December 2024 - 8 January 2026

In the spring of 2024, a new Erasmus project: AEQUALIS4TCLF will launch. In collaboration with industry partners, this research focuses on the (impending) shortage of practical skills needed for a future-proof, more digital European fashion and textile sector.
Together with partners from seven European countries—including Czech Republic, Croatia, Lithuania, Finland, Slovenia, Serbia, and the Netherlands—the research groups led by Jose Teunissen and Troy Nachtigall will contribute to developing new curricula essential for enabling a sustainable and digital industry.
Education
By analyzing the skills required in the sector, promoting social inclusion and safety, and working closely with businesses and industry organizations, both research and education will be renewed. This approach enables students to learn in an international, practice-oriented setting, preparing them for a future where ethical and sustainable choices take center stage.
Expected Outcomes
- Development of educational programs tailored to the skills and knowledge needed in a sustainable and digital textile and fashion industry.
- Hands-on workshops for students, educators, and professionals, emphasizing innovative technologies and ethical aspects.
- Strong collaborations between universities, colleges, vocational education, and industry partners to ensure long-term impact.
- Analysis of current and future skills required in the textile and fashion sector.
- Publication of findings to guide policymakers and industry leaders in strategic decision-making.
- Development of digital learning tools, such as e-learning modules, augmented reality applications, or interactive platforms.
