INTERMED
Method

Some patients experience physical, social, and psychological problems simultaneously, leading to complex care needs. The INTERMED method provides patients and caregivers with quick insights into the complexity of care demands and the healthcare system. It also helps create a tailor-made treatment plan.

Tool
The INTERMED is an interview-based tool that can be used by doctors or patients. It aims to operationalise the bio-psycho-social model of disease and bridge the gap between general medical and mental health care. By systematically assessing patient health risks and needs, it helps to prevent health issues and deliver cost-effective care.
Get training
If you or your team wants to use the INTERMED method in your practice or for research, you need training. The best way to get this training is to contact the person in charge of INTERMED in your country. The INTERMED method can be performed by clinicians (IM-CAG) or by patients themselves (IM-SA). The IM-SA is available in 9 languages and has been developed for specific groups of caretakers. In the table below you can find the IM-SA in different languages (free for use). Please do provide a reference.
