Centre for Financial Innovation
About CFI
The Centre for Financial Innovation (CFI) collaborates with organisations and businesses to find solutions for current challenges in the field of finance and accounting. Big data, AI, ethical dilemmas, co-ownership, and sustainability demand a different way of working. The CFI provides insights through research, practical recommendations, and tools, sharing this knowledge with students and professionals.
At the heart of the changes in the financial sector we are confronted with two developments - digitalisation and sustainability, - thus we have participated in setting up and are a key player in the Centre for Economic Transformation (CET) and the Centre of Expertise of Applied AI of the university of applied science, Amsterdam.
The CFI develops research projects, executes them, and provides courses as part of the financial programmes at the AUAS. Students and professionals are made aware of how they work and the roles they play within the ‘systems’—the entirety of rules, procedures, and processes—in and with which they operate.
The CFI possesses unique expertise in the areas of corporate governance (co-ownership), fintech, and financing, such as stacked financing, digitalisation, civic crowdfunding, soft controls, the ethical accountant, and standards for fintech enterprises.
The CFI is led by the team of the AUAS’s Corporate Governance & Leadership research group.
