The Climate Resilient City research group at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is exploring how cities can be designed to ensure that residents and businesses can continue to live, work, and recreate comfortably in the future. Their research focuses on heat, drought, water, and biodiversity.
Due to climate change, we are experiencing more frequent and prolonged heat. This causes buildings and homes to heat up, preventing residents from cooling down at night. The 1001 Hot Nights project is investigating how to best respond to night-time heat.

The Cool Towns projects aimed to counteract the negative effects of climate change. In finding attractive solutions that make European cities climate-proof and robust, the project's goal was to limit heat stress as much as possible.
Jeroen Kluck has been Professor of Climate Resilient City City since 2008. “I find it important that the research we do is translated into solutions that benefit society,” says Kluck.
Ed Melet is Associate professor of Circular Building in the Climate Resilient City research group. He received his PhD from TU Delft in 2017 with Activerende Gevels (Activating Facades), a study on buildings that change how people behave.
