Better recovery after hospitalisation
Vulnerable elderly and seriously ill patients often experience major surgery or ICU stays as major events. The Rehabilitation in Acute Care research group studies the impact of illness and hospitalisation on daily functioning. In addition, the research group develops and implements treatment methods to support patients' recovery. The professorship also investigates what care professionals need to be prepared for future and increasing care demands.

Professor Rehabilitation in Acute Care
Marike van der Schaaf is professor at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Amsterdam UMC and associate professor of Rehabilitation in Acute Care at the AUAS.
