About the research group
The research group Urban Economic Innovation researches changes in the economy of the Amsterdam metropolitan area. It focuses on investigating the dynamics of partnerships in Amsterdam that aim to make the city more sustainable and appealing. The research group is part of the Faculty of Business & Economics.
The research focuses on one question: how can partners work together towards a stronger city? The projects of the research group are done for different stakeholders, such as government organisations, municipalities, city districts and companies. Both lecturers and students work together in these research projects. As a result, the research also provides new boosts to the curriculum.
Research themes
The research group focuses mainly on the following themes:
1. The practice of ‘urban management’
The research group investigates how to promote the urban and regional knowledge economy in Amsterdam so that it can contribute to solutions to social problems.
2. Co-production
Researchers look at how public and private partners in the city can jointly develop solutions to achieve a sustainable economy.
3. Innovation networks
Collaboration is crucial for innovation. The research group investigates how innovation occurs within networks and how these partnerships can function optimally.
