Yassir shares his AUAS experience
Yassir is a student at the AUAS. Here he shares some of his background and experience of student life.
Let’s start with some background. Where are you from? What were you studies and hobbies before coming to the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS)?
I am from Zaandam, a city north of Amsterdam. I am currently a second year Aviation student at the AUAS. Before this I studied at the gymnasium-level at middle school for 8 years. I decided not to pursue studies at a research university because I am a person who needs guidance to stay consistent and motivated.
My hobbies are fitness and power-lifting, gaming and watching a lot of Netflix.
What do you prioritise most in your life? What are you passionate about?
I became passionate about learning and developing myself in every possible manner. I prioritise quiet time, feeling productive and being around people I feel a good connection to.
What tips do you have for someone settling into life in Amsterdam?
Be prepared to handle stress and difficult people. Most importantly, don't take things too personally.
What do you think you will remember the most about your time as a student at the AUAS?
The strong connections I’ve built with my fellow students. An adventure where I learned to have a lot of patience, especially with the group assignments.
