AUAS’ study programmes’ Vision on research in the curriculum (RiE)
Strategic programme Research in Education
ProjectWhat is the vision of AUAS’ Bachelor programmes on research in the curriculum and the profession and how is this vision changing over time?
The strategic programme Research in Education monitors the reasoning of the different study programmes of AUAS behind the integration of research into the curriculum. Literature on curriculum design suggests that the vision, or the reasoning behind our teaching, must take in a central position when developing a curriculum (Van den Akker, 2003). For this reason, it is generally expected that study programmes redesigning their curriculum to better integrate research, have formulated a clear vision of research in the curriculum and the profession.
The main question behind this research is:
What is the vision of AUAS’ Bachelor programmes on research in the curriculum and the profession and how is this vision changing over time?
In order to investigate this vision, we have collected critical self-evaluations that were written by the Bachelor programmes in the context of accreditation or an internal audit. These self-evaluations are then screened for information about the reasoning of these study programmes to integrate research into the curriculum. The self-evaluations are investigated for the periods 2010-2015, 2016-2018 and 2019-2021.
