Inge Oskam has been a professor at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) since 2007 and has led the Circular Design & Business research group since 2015. She studied Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology, and obtained her PhD at the Free University Amsterdam on research into the role of stakeholder interaction in the development of sustainable business models.
Design, technology and business
Oskam conducts practice-oriented research at the intersection of design, technology and business. Here, she focuses on the transition to a circular economy. Core themes are circular design of products and packaging, reuse of residual materials in circular products and system innovations for closing urban material cycles. This involves not only concrete solutions, but also circular business models and the cross-sectoral cooperation involved.
Innovation management
Before joining the AUAS, Oskam worked for eight years at TNO as a project manager on sustainable system innovations and methods for product innovation and strategy development. She then spent ten years working as a management consultant. Her role included supporting technology-oriented organisations to develop innovation management.
Besides being a lecturer at the AUAS, Oskam is Programme Director of Circollab, a member of the KIA-CE focus group and leader of the circular economy theme within the AUAS's Energy & Sustainability Dialogue table.
