Emerging Technology for Business
The Emerging Technology for Business Research Group collects high-quality practice-based knowledge on companies' use of emerging digital technologies and its effects on serving and retaining customers, competitive ability, business models, and commercial processes.
The research group aims to provide businesses and higher education with applied knowledge on the adoption, use and impact of emerging digital technologies.
The research group in particular focuses on potentially disruptive technological innovations, such as smart devices, service and social robotics, augmented and virtual reality, biometrics, and conversational interfaces.
The research group in its work adopts an information science perspective, so the focus of the research is on the investigated technologies themselves, taking into account both their adoption, use, development and the consequences of their use for businesses. Special attention is paid to the marketing effects of the deployment of emerging digital technologies by businesses.
The research group works closely with small and medium-sized enterprises, especially from the retail and technology sectors, and industry associations. The research group also has close ties with academic universities and other universities of applied sciences. Businesses and other organisations who would like information and advice on emerging digital technologies should contact the group’s professor Tibert Verhagen.
