Open workspace
In this open workshop, students and staff of the HvA can bring their ideas to life using materials such as wood, plastic, paper, and textiles. You can also create intensely colored prints with the RISO printer or print in full color on almost any material using the UV printer. In the digital fabrication space, you will find 3D printers, laser cutters, a foam cutter, and a sticker cutter. The workshop with analog tools is equipped with a pillar drill, a bandsaw, a sanding machine, and various hand tools.
Working Method
At the Makers Lab, you cannot have something made for you, but you can make it yourself. The Makers Lab is a Do-It-Yourself workshop. Instructors are available daily to teach you how to safely use the equipment and tools. After that, you work independently.
There are no costs associated with using the lab. You bring your own materials or seek advice on material options and suppliers. For some machines, it is not possible to bring your own materials, and the lab provides them instead. See ‘Materials and Costs’ for each machine.
Note! The equipment and tools in the Makers Lab may not be used for commercial purposes.
Getting Started
Would you like to start working in the Makers Lab or take a look around? Visit us at the Theo Thijssenhuis, room 00B20.
For the laser cutters, UV printer, and RISO printer, you need to reserve a spot via the online booking system. Create an account using your HvA email address (not your HvA ID). For all other equipment, you can simply drop by. The instructors are ready to give you a tour or assist you in using the equipment.
